Picked up 20 new bred heifers from the Johnston Fertile Valley Sale in Saskatoon last weekend. We settled them for two days and now they are out bale grazing with our young bunch.
(sorry for the crappy pictures, I used my phone)
There are quite a few Final Answer heifers in the bunch (9), some Glantworth Waigroup (9) and then a Mustang and one from a Final Answer Son.
They are in the top 10% of the breed for CE, top 15% for MCE and top 40 for WW and top 35 for YW. They are pretty moderate frame and all have Milk numbers ranging from 16 to 28 (perhaps a touch high there).
They will get selectively crossed with a Waigroup son, and In Focus grandson and an OCC bull. If they pass the test and we can make it past the early calves this year they should fit in nicely here.
