We went to our local New Holland dealer for a couple of parts earlier this week. Surprise, they are now a John Deere Dealer. John Deere cancelled the franchise of their dealer and got the New Holland Dealer to take them on.

I guess we have an orphan tractor since the nearest dealer is many miles away. Deere is sure taking over. If they would just sell stuff for a competive price, we could live with it.

Our International, Oliver, Ford, Massey and Case Dealers have all disappeared, but Deere runs strong. Must be that green paint!!

Around here it is simply resale value for the most part. We are looking at maybe replacing our loader tractor this winter and I am dreading the trips to the dealers. 5 or 6 years ago the local Case IH dealer went under which took out two dealerships near here. They have since replaced on and it is only 8 minutes away. New Holland, closest is 30 minutes with two about aan hour away and than more about 2 hours away.. The Deere dealperships are all consolidating as the bigger ones buy the smaller ones but there are probably 6 places to go inside a half hour for Deere.. Cat is an hour away and Agco is located with the case Dealer in town.

The big problem is Deere is the only thing that trades in or resells worth crap with some people being okay with Case.. You can buy AGco's for next to nothing, I think our Challenger iwe bought would have cost twice as much if it had been painted green.. Actually, I know it would have.

We bought at JD 6200 loader tractor in 1994 for $36,000 and put about 5600 hrs on it. I am working on a deal to upgrade tractor this fall/winter and local dealer offered $40,000 trade in value.

I hate buying equipment.. Really do but I know I am going to need to replace the loader this year.. It has seen better years, a 7410 with 5500 hours on it.. Thought about keping it and converting it to just a baling tractor until I realized I don't really bale so that doesn' make sense. The New Holland Dealer has been stopping buy ever since I bought the crp shreader from him trying to get me to try out a TV145 or whatever that bidirectional one is.. Intriquing to be honest but not exactly cheap, lol... I don't know what I would do with something so fancy, tend to buy our stuff with some hours on it already usually, few dents, maybe some metal removed... you know, tractors with character, lol.

we run a TV140. and for an all around machine, you can not beat it!
make sure you get engine end pto and 3 point. it is especially nice when you take off the loader and use a shredder. you do not have a kink in your neck when done !! because it is right in front of you.

We were thinking of buying one when we got our 7410 at the auciton.. The deere was first to go and we barely got it for the price we had set. The holland, with less hours went for less money because, well,. it is a New Holland.

I was actually thinking of buying it and maybe getting a hay header for it to use it as a self propelled windrower.for all that hay we don't cut, lol.. Things are changing on the old place and it probably means more cows, more land and more hay over the enxt few years.. At the very least it will mena we will start growing hay again... If I actually think about it I will make the dealer bring me a demo unit... Just got a bit of a surprise and found out I will have a bit more money going into fall than I thought.. I love those surprises.

Paying trade values like that, and that dealer won't be around long. Or he is WAAAAAY over priced on what you're buying & he wants to make you feel good about it..

Jigs is right, go with a bi-directional. You'll use it for things you can't even think of right now.

Sometimes those trade in values are deceptive as they nick you on the amount of discount they give you off list price on the new tractor or vehicle you are getting.. But some dealers in areas get real competative and spend way to much money hoping to get more business in the future. I have been wondering if the place would give me a good trade on the 7410 and the big old Challenger if I bought two tractors from them, lol... we shall see when I d the budget in September what we can pay, what they will do on a trade and what all of those good things.. Again, I don't know what I would do with a new one, lol.

one of the local green dealers was also selling new holland. That was ok with JD UNTILL they started selling way to much new holland, then JD put their foot down. Dealer ended up selling the JD dealer ship to another huge dealer, and moved the New Holland across town.
I called the JD dealer for parts for my drill, as usual, they did not have what I needed. A few days later and $20 bucks freight later for a part I could carry under my arm, I had what I needed (after I finished drilling). My experience is the jd dealers around here never have any parts on hand. However when I go to either of the local new holland dealers, they almost always have what I need. Never could figure out why green sells so good. Please don't try to tell me green breaks down less often as my neighbor runs green and I would hate to have his repair bills. My green no till drill has to be the most expensive to run piece of equipment I have ever ran.
