so do I!! I was looking at the pics thinking that looks just like the country around here then the ropers, almost sure the one on the gray is the guy who lives on the next road here and that the guy pushing the steers is the guy off of the hiway just a little ways down the road.

Well now wouldn't that be a darn amazing coincidence...as big as Texas is and all the ropers there are in all the nooks and crannies.

Your Hiway doesn't happen to be Hwy. 377 does it?

Recognize this?

Great pics Julie. That first one of the cows in that meadow with the hills in the background looks like our kinda terrain, except right now ours is burnt brown. :( Beautiful place though. Out of curiosity, any of you Texans care to suggest what pasture like that sells for down there?

It varies...but all of it is over priced. Here prices have gone from $1200 an acre to $7500 an acre in the last few years. The bigger the property, the less per acre usually, there's still places to be found 100 acres or more that run around $2500 an acre...to 3500. still too much if your wantin to run cattle.

No kidding! Yikes! Land prices are creepin' up everywhere though, so it's only right that in Texas the increase would be BIGGER!  We've been real lucky to make a long-term plan with my folks to buy the land as we can afford it. Bought the 1000acres of pasture land last year, and the cropland will come in 5-7 years.

Yeah that is Jeff (my wifes cousin) on the gray and that is Monty pushing the steers at his place which is the old Sudderth ranch. I live in Blanket now but as the crow flys all my country is about 1mile south of Monty. We were running two dairies but recently sold all the cows to NM and are running stockers. I'm also a real estate agent so If you want to come to TX just look me up. Told Jeff at the rodeo last night "saw you on the internet" he about fell out, of course I might have embelished what he was doing!!

Monty and Lynn are my friends from when they ranched here in NM --and I was staying with them when I took the pics! :) The other roper is Dan W....don't spoze you know him too? He works at the New Holland dealer in Comanche--my Dan the Team Roper stories are about Dan.

Damn this world in TINY!!! What are the odds!!!

I don't have any Dan stories posted --have a selection of them that will make a section of the next book.. p.m me your email address and I'll send you a couple ---

Still shaking my head thinking "what were the odds?"
