The problem is outlets like ESPN tend to highlight the fights more than the game sometimes NR.. It is a shame.. If there is a brawl in a baseball game, or someone just charges the mound and it doesn't escalate it is shown 20 times compared to the 1 time for a nice throw deep out of the hole by the shortstop. Maybe it is the carwreck mentality of not being able to turn away from things like that or maybe it is something else.. I don't know.. there are probably 5-10 just amazing things that happen in almost every hockey game. Yeah, some get a bit ugly but so do football games in the snow and mud that people refer to as classics that are really bad footbal... No big deal...
Just like every sport there are aspects that need to be cleaned up a bit and I still say (even though I am not a huge hockey follower like these crazy canucks :lol

Hockey does a better job than any other sport at policing itself. The players accept the discipline.. In general I would rather have my son or daughter play hockey and act like a hockey player than any of the other major sports. Whiny baseball players, thugs in basketball and football. Arrests, beanball wars, throwing bats at other players/umps, swinging a helmet as a weapn (And only getting a once game suspension   ) shooting guns off outside a strip club at 3 am, I mean come on Mike... Lot more to focus on than just Hockey.. Northern could probably spend hours concentrating just on ACC or SEC football and fine worse stuff, actuall, just focus on the Univeristy of Miami and he could find worse.
Hockey is a contact sport so in essence there is some violence.. So is football so there will be some there. Hockey would not be the same game if not for the checks against the glass and stuff like that.. I doubt many would watch football if it was two hand touch or flag. You want to see hypocrits.. watch NFL highlights... They promote the violence, spearing, crushing hits but than they fine players for doing the same thing.. Very strange to this camper.
