Dad and another kid were walking to school one day when they went by the neighbor's farmyard, The team was hooked to a bob sled with a hay rack empty. They untied the team hopped on it was a late March a cold morning with 3 to 4 feet of hard crusted snow. snow so hard that a team and loaded sleigh of hay could stay on top. Dad said they headed west to the top of the hill where the dry farms turned to trees. They unhitched the team unhooking the lines from the bridles and looping the lines thru the Hames, hooking up the tugs, and turned the horses loose, whom headed home. He said they pulled the tongue straight up tied it to the front of the rack of the bunk couldn't turn on thr king pin. gave the sled a sideways shove and got it going down hill. Well once they hit flat country, they were taking out the few wires on fences above the snow and time they stopped they had a few miles to walk to school.
