For the first time in over forty years, a gallon of gas and a pound of steer calf are worth about equal money. I remember being
with my dad as he pulled into the old Standard Station in Merriman back in the 1960's. All gas stations in those days were full service.
He told the proprietor Don Chappell to "Fill 'er up." Dad then commented, "Gas is 32.9 cents per gallon, and I just sold
our steer calves for 33 cents per pound." The heifer calves that year were sold for 31 cents per pound. The ratio has not even been
close in all these years since. For most of this time, it has taken nearly three pounds of calf to buy a gallon of gas. It's good to see
some things back as they once were.

A black bird, either at rest or standing at attention, I'm not sure which. :?

Antelope on yonder hill

A lone soapweed in bloom on October 19th, 2014.

This seems incongruous and out of sync with the season.

Little bitty spring flowers in bloom on October 19th. They also seem to be confused.

Happy to find my two lost bulls.
