This gentleman is Don Henning from Wisconsin. He bought Hereford club calves from my grandpa (Dad's dad) back in 1950, 1951,
and 1952. He had called me this spring saying it was on his "bucket list" to come back to where he had bought those calves so long ago.
He said my granddad had supplied horses for him and a couple other kids that were along. They all rode out into the pasture, gathered
the cattle, and sorted out the calves they were interested in along with their mothers. These they took to the corral where they loaded
the calves on a small truck and headed back to Lincoln, Nebraska, where they all were from. These buying trips were memories which
he has treasured for his lifetime.

This is the old highway. Back in those days, trees were planted alongside the roadways especially to furnish shade for the travelers.
Now the roadside trees are all eliminated. Guess this is the difference that 75 years makes. :?

Thanks for the pictures, Soap. Interesting, as usual.
Even if your walking is hampered, I know it is good to be out and about.

How are the England travelers doing?

Do you have any problems using photobucket for your pictures?
Or do you use something else? Trying to figure out an easy way for
people so we can have a Photo Contest once again. Thanks!

It is good to be out and about and getting some fresh air. I don't dare get very far from my walker. It's slow going, but I clumsily get around.

The England travelers are home, as of noon today. My sister
and I picked them up at the Rapid City airport last evening at about 10:30. We spent the night in Rapid, and drove home in the rain today
by way of Chadron. It rained hard all the way from Rapid to Chadron. We got a little rain here at home today, but nothing like further
to the northwest.

Photobuckets has been acting up for me lately, also. If I try
to download ten photos, it will say something to the effect that six worked and four failed. However if I hit the button "view downloads,"
all ten have usually been all successfully delivered. Then after they are in place on the Photobuckets page, I put the arrow over the
eight-cogged gear wheel in the upper right hand corner of the picture. Then I click where it says, "get links." When the links
show up, I click on the bottom line, which reads "IMG codes." This automatically copies, and then I click Ctrl and the V key
to paste onto the Ranchers.net page. It seems to work for me.

I use the same system. Either Photobucket or I am getting more compatible as I haven't had the problems encountered last spring lately.

Hey Soap, I checked out the market report down there. Our calves are sold privately for whatever the top of the local market is in Williams Lake the day we weigh. I have little hope of getting within $20 per hundred for 50 lb lighter calves than what you received for your first bunch. Even so it will be nice to top the market and keep the selling charges in our pocket.

Glad you were able to recoup last winter's feed costs and then some.

It's our yearling heifers that will have trouble recouping their winter feed costs.
