In church today we sang the song The love of God. I remember hearing the story to the last verse so I looked it up. It's interesting. Here's a link to the song and the story of the last verse which is very inspired for lack of a better word.

Another one of my favorites is It is well with my soul. What a moving story that goes with that song. When sorrow like sea billows roll indeed for Mr Spafford.

Anyone else got a favorite?

Blessed Assurance Last night my wife and I led cowboy church at Vega, TX and in the middle of this song...."this is my story, this is my song" I stopped the singing and asked if anyone had a story about His blessed assurance. One after another, people shared their stories of how they were saved, delivered and healed. Sometimes the imprompto testimonies are the most powerful. It was a great evening!

So many! Great is Thy Faithfulness (sung at our wedding); Amazing Grace; All, Hail the Power of Jesus Name are ones that come to mind. We just returned from a week at a Christian camp with two of our children and their families plus assorted other relatives and had a chance to sing many oldies plus the newer hymns all accompanied by the band and chorus each morning. It was quite a wonderful week. The speaker was Erwin Lutzer from Moody Church in Chicago- can't say enough about how good his messages were, too.

Erwin Lutzer? You had a good man there. I'd have like to been at that. I've always liked his preaching. He's retired from moody hasn't he?

He's called a "senior pastor", one of others, I don't know how many, who preach there. Have you tried watching him on line? I just listened (and watched) his sermon "The Prodigal Comes Home" in their archive of sermons

Most of the sermons listed under his name for July are not him (probably because he's been away speaking at different camps each week) but other men which is a little confusing on the website. But the Prodigal one in the archives is definitely him preaching.

I had a Andy Griffith tape I wore out that had all the great favorites.....
I like Morning has Broken........ We sang that in high school choir and it was soooooo neat..... Always will have a special place in my heart........

Just a Closer Walk With Thee........
