On the trail home

Once they are on that trail, you just need to sit and watch. If you put a chute at the end you could load a truck! :D

I know it doesn't look like it but there is good browse and good high mountain grass where these cattle have been. We don't have a lot of grass, but what we have packs a good bit of value. These calves will wean at around 600lbs.

That first picture......
Never have I seen cattle that had to trail in that much sheer rock.

Neat country. Can't say as I think it is good cattle country tho. :D
But you can't argue with success! How old are the calves when you
put them up there? How old is that steer calf on that heifer?

Most of the calves are born in March. That black baldy calf was born in March sometime. The heifer needs it weaned. I'm doing that today.

Sounds like a good plan to me! Those big calves sure can pull the heifers down!

I hope to see your country someday.
Do you ride and check on your cattle during the summer, or do you
do as gcreek does (his for another reason~cattle run in lots of timber)
and just wait til they are ready to come in? Funny how those old girls
know when it's time...

Do you have much of a predator problem? If so, what predator?

Thanks for the pictures!
