Well if the forecast is right, we should be out of this deep freeze by the end of the week.

Would that ever be a good thing.

Don't remember ever having to haul so much hay or grain or wood in a day as was the norm for this winter. The older cows are making out okay but it sure is tough on the heifers and 1st calvers.

The wind just peels the skin off yer bones!

I hope it warms up for ya, burnt!

It's headed below zero some more here tonight.

Crazy propane stuff going on everywhere. I'm noticing more and more stuff not being at stores any more also.

I'm worried.

It only took me three hours to drive from Cornwall to Ottawa this morning - only about 15 or 20 rigs in the ditch and the pohleese were having a tough time trying to keep those kebec drivers from doing more than 100 klicks in white out conditions.

I made it safe and sound and then turned around to go home because it was worse at work than on the farm.

One good thing those extra 70 lambs in the barn are helping to keep the temp just above the freezing mark

Wifey hauls all the wood into the house - thank goodness she keeps it piled up high because I am burning it really fast.

Cheers

Nope, not done yet. My turn again, bc!

Our one son headed in your direction yesterday to just the other side of Toronto for a week-long job. What is usually a 3 hour drive took them 7 hrs.

One talking head was saying that the record cold in Canada/US this winter is taking so much extra cash for heating and travel that it is going to have a negative impact on the economy in the coming year.

You and I are among the fortunate ones to have a woodpile. I know some folks on tight budgets who have turned the thermostat down and the oil tank still goes empty way too fast. That's gonna leave a mark . . .

as usual the cold weather in the east get's the blame for the HIGH diesel price's 1.25/litre for farm fuel here. My wood pile is getting a lot smaller than i'd like it, too....snow too deep to go get more where i get it.... heating propane is hovering around .60/litre.....supply and demand....or oil company gouging

hayguy double up on the propane order.

Out east here it is now $1.10/liter, up sharply from 85 cents last fall for household and 60 - 65 cents for grain dryer deliveries.

Farm fuel is $1.20 plus 13%HST.

I'm glad I can get to the woodpile. Very, very glad.

These kinds of weather extremes are extremely hard on the weak.

I am not sure what the conversion from Liters to gallons is, but was quoted $4.19 a gallon for propane here, really going to hurt when they come fill. Have a great day

I think a US gallon is about 3.8 liters.

 I'm sure you aren't joking......because that's nothing to joke about. Holy cow, I feel sorry for anyone paying that much for propane. We just had ours filled in Dec and I think it was $1.10. I've never heard of that much for propane. Makes me sick, for anyone having to pay that price. We have a 1000 gal tank. That would be $4,190 to fill it!!!

i think propane might be pushing $5.00 in some areas. we fill ours in the summer so not sure what our local price is right now, i'm afraid to ask.

I thought you missed my comment..... :D :P

I'm sure glad I heat with wood. I did buy 200 gallons of propane in december $2.19 a gallon then. $8 in saw gas goes along ways I haul my skidloader up to feed each day and slay a tree or two for the ride home. we have the outdoor boiler plus the fire place in the house and a wood furnace in the shop. I burn about 1 1/2 10" trees per day all tolled.

I paid $1.63 gal in August and my tenant bought 600 gal at that price ( paid for ) to be delivered as needed. He called for propane and they kept putting him off till he ran out and then brought him 100 gals - - - they are charging right at $5.00 a gal now.

I saw a news article that the 3 major suppliers all took their pipelines off line for maintenance at the same time. This sounds like collusion to me!
