I understand where P&B is coming from. Canceling the game because the other players were too emotionally wrought to play because a player got hurt and CPR was necessary to save his life, is just ridiculous and just shows that just because these guys are all considered strong and tough, they are really, for the most part, weaklings.
Not because they cried or prayed, but because they couldn't finish the job they are paid extravagant wages to do. If the player had been killed and dismembered, then I could understand, but not because he required CPR.
I have seen a few in rodeos that needed CPR but as soon as they could get them off to the hospital, a prayer was said by the announcer and the show went on. Sure the other contestants are shaken, but they carry on.
As far as personal experience, a working partner was once knocked out and required CPR, but as soon as he was off to the hospital, the work continued.
While I have seen many injured on ranches and neighbors pitch in, I have never seen the ranchers or families shut down and turn over their responsibilities to others because they are so shaken they cannot continue.
I have several stories I could tell, but the one that will never leave my mind until the day I die is my cousin that was like a sister to me that was staying with us because her mother was ill with cancer. She volunteered to do the run to the neighbors to take them gas because the truck with gas broke down and they needed to use their Ford 8N because their JD diesel was being repaired, the rain was coming and there was hay to be baled.
Long story short, for some reason never known for sure, she went off a small bridge in the open jeep and it turn over spilling several cans of gas. She was trapped and couldn't get out. An unknown bird hunter saw the accident (or it was suspected it was) and came running and then it all caught on fire. He was seen running from the scene after the fire. Later a cigarette was found that started the fire.
When one of the neighbor kids came flying up on his motorcycle and I saw my dad take off running, I followed as I saw the smoke. Upon arriving I heard the screams and smelled the burning flesh. The screams soon stopped.
I remember that evening and the next day my father telling me that we must keep busy. Being sad is good he said, but morbidity kills the soul. When all chores were done, he found jobs to keep me busy. We had neighbors that wanted to help, but my dad insisted that we must carry on.
If a 15-year-old girl can carry on and do her work plus look for more work, then I will say the other players should have insisted the game go on. Sure shed a few tears and say a prayer, but get back to doing your job.
They didn't and in my book, they are not even worthy of being called sissies or pansies. They are entitled and lack character. I wasn't surprised they couldn't carry on, since if they don't like the USA they can take a knee and refuse to stand for the National Anthem which represents a vast sacrifice of life.
I don't care about football and never watch it. As far as I am concerned cancel football forever. It doesn't produce or isn't representative of any necessary product. It is big-money entertainment and now if one gets hurt, let's just cancel the game folks have paid to see and the players will still get paid thousands.
I remember at least two incidents where workers lost their arms working in a sawmill. The work continued soon as the injured was off to the hospital and the blood was cleaned up.
More than once I took a turn giving CPR and no shifts were canceled. As soon as the paramedics arrived it was back to work.
