paracord halter

I've always made my own halters. The July 2000 issue of Western Horseman has an article on how to do it in there. I'll see what I can find to help ya.

Here's a pic of the July 2000 mag I have that explains a way to do it

I grabbed a few pics from when I tried to make a blog post on how to do it. I failed... :D . 1000 pics of just loosing people.... :D

I found a link of the article I have...

If you put in rope halters in a search, there's a lot more ways to do it.

I make colt and yearling halters the same way, just change the inches between each knot of course.

Sorry if this is no help!

Looks like nice work and nice halters to me! And I'm picky...

I really like the rope halters like these! Light weight, super strong and all kinds of colors.

So many times I see flat web woven halters on young horses and I think,
"folks, if you only knew..." :?

Those, and halters that don't fit.......GRRRRRR!!! :!:

Where you tie your shank on I take another wrap around the halter and under it's self before i drop the end out. I don't think it tightens up quite as much. :?

Yeah, a person can probably do what all they want with them. I tie my leadrope part to never come off and leave it on the life of the halter. I never ever leave a halter on a horse and I never have problems with the fasten part of the halter. All what a persons wants to do!!

Mr. FH would totally agree with you, R A. He makes his lead ropes out of old nylon ropes, takes them apart and rebraids them flat. When he does that, he braids the lead rope right into the halter. He hates snaps on lead ropes! His lead ropes aren't much for Purdy, but they sure are sturdy! :D

Sturdy is prudy to me... :D . Sounds like a neat thing to do! Yeah, no snaps for me either! I wish I knew more about braiding. I used to braid the rings and the tail back into itself on all my bucking bull flanks I made that I needed, but never could just do it. I could get them to where I liked them, but never knew how I did it on each one to the other.... :D
