Hello Friends,
I like the following quote very much: "don't ask what your country can do for you. Ask instead what you can do for your country" by JFK... I love my country, its culture, and I am grateful to those who work very hard here to provide us with good crops and beef; however, I am forever grateful to those brave souls who have fought in wars to keep our country moving forward...

I know that I can do more, but sending a small donation to a charity here and there, or to the Paralyzed Veterans is just a little grain of salt in the scheme of things...

Last Sunday, I had the privilege of being at a restaurant where I saw a retired Vietnam Veteran. I was inspired to pay for his meal by an article I read on Yahoo.

I must have say, seeing his expression was priceless... We were seating across from him, and very quietly asked our waitress: can I pay for his meal? The waitress was very nice about it, and actually went and got it from the other waitress serving his table. All of this was done anonymously; I just told our waitress if he asked any questions, to please tell him "that it is an honor to do such a small thing, and that we are very proud for his service in Vietnam." His eyes got bigger, and you could see such an excitement as he was listening to what the waitress was telling him. He kept looking around everywhere trying to find out "who was the person doing this" because as we were told "he wanted to thank us." Why am I sharing this? This has been such a wonderful thing, and the feeling that I got seeing his gracious spirit was priceless.

Any other suggestions/ways of saying "Thank You" to our retired/active heroes?

Hope everyone is having a blissful Wednesday!

That was a terrific gesture on your part and I am sure he will think about that for days to come and smile. :D :D

I hope he feels that there are many people that appreciate all that he went through in Vietnam....
