The balsam is pretty spectacular right now

The hill is covered with it. I am headed for the fence up top.

A not too large bear track in the mud. The dogs ran off one little bear today. I only caught a quick glimpse, but it looked like a yearling.

There are carpets of Shooting Stars.

Making a bid for pack horse independence! Or maybe just showing me that the pack is crooked....

Very pretty country.

Good to see someone who is doing their work without the use of all them amn amde fuel burners.

I am always amazed when I think of all the work that was done before we had pickups and tractors, in this part of the country. People worked harder, but at least they were in shape!

Thanks for posting the pics. :-)

DJL, is that Venus Slipper like a pretty version of a Venus Flytrap? It looks somewhat the same. Gorgeous pictures, BTW. You have alot of different flowers that we don't see here on the flat prairies.

I hate to tell you JB, but I have one of those 'amn amde fuel burners', but most of the fences have places just too scary to get to with it. By the look of some of the tracks, the recreational riders have no such qualms, but I was raised on the flats, so motorized vehicles and steep sidehill angles scare the heck out of me! With the horses I don't spend any time getting back to the quad and then figuring out how to get around where I just was. The area where the quad shines is for packing salt, which saves soring up a pack horse or three.

Shelly, I don't know if the Venus Slipper is related to the Venus Flytrap. The Venus Slipper is in the orchid family, and the plant is usually only about four or five inches tall, and grows in wooded areas. You have to get right on the ground to get a decent pic of it.

Don't get me wrong, we all got 'em. Just that some of us use them too much.

Are you kidding, JB? My 13 year old quad only has 9000 km on it, but I know of one guy, whose quad is much newer than mine, who has 23000 on it! He doesn't ride a horse, of course!

You've really captured some great pictures there...My favorite one is of yur fencin crew...that's perfect! Now just share yur secret on how to get them borders to pound in staples and that's the next thing I'm gonna teach my pup! lol

Yur camera really brings the colors out in those flower pictures...awesome. I enjoyed all yur photo's! Thanks

Tap I would love to post more pics but it's so slow uploading them that it just doesn't get done! If I was a computer whiz and shrunk them all first I could likely speed it up, but I'm not the nerd I'd like to be!

Those are some mighty fine pictures. They just jump right off the screen the colors are so bright and alive. That shot of your four legged fence crew needs to be enlarged to about 24 x 30 and framed and put on the wall, in fact I know just the one... 8) Thanks for sharing your country.
