Al and I went down and did some cleaning at the new-to-us house yesterday, and I snapped off a few pics of it. Most of the "outside" ones didn't turn out very well, but some did.

One corner of the Master Bedroom, lots of old pics there

The dining room, sorry it's so dark

One corner of the kitchen, other corner (with the wood cookstove) didn't come out

A hutch in the dining room

Corner by the front door, and into the dining room

Another old picture, of my great aunt, great uncle and grandma, back in the early 1900s

Image-1911.jpg

Another dresser and old pics (I drew the one of the longhorn when I was a teenager)

Image-1912.jpg

A not so good shot of auntie and grandma with some baby (I have no idea who it was) in the field at the house

Al holding down the living room sofa, playing computer games

My dad's senior pic (1955)

Another dresser and old pictures

Mulberry tree in the yard, last week when I was there, it was just a pile of gold leaves, but they've mostly blown away now

Barn and corral, from the front yard

"My Mountain".......y'all will probably be seeing a lot of pics of Gold Bluffs, maybe I'll even try to get some without my baby brother's vehicles in the way.....lol

So wonderful you acquired a house with all the memories built in!
And a kitchen with a wood stove!! Have a great time making it all your own, Ranchy!

the dresser with the round mirror... my mom had one exactly like that. one of the first things I jumped off of as a kid, trying to"fly" to the bed!

Looks like you've got a nice home set up there. The best part I like, is in the title where you said Al's AND My new home. Like your longhorn sketch. I have grandma's old buffet that is about like the hutch in you pic.

It's gonna be an adventure, that's for sure!

There are a few issues with the casa at present. I think Dad must have gotten the leaks in the roof fixed, since there's no further water damage on the ceilings. But.....he said the sewer has never worked right, so may end up having to put a new system in. And, he's not sure about the water pipes (that they poured a cement slab over, to add on to the house) and if they're still in good shape. I sure hope so, cause I'd hate to have to tear half the house down, to get to them.

Most of the stuff in the house, is stuff that's been there ever since I can remember. The wood cookstove (that the pic didn't come out) is one they bought and put in when I was a teenager, and there's a wood stove in the living room that sits in front of the fireplace that's more recent. Other than that, it's all old stuff.

When we moved back to the ranch, we lived just over the hill from this house, maybe a hundred yards, and an easy hike for a 2 year old, so I made it real often, then later, the sisters went along, too. We probably grew up as much in this house, as we did our own. So it really is like going home again.

jigs......   I don't doubt a bit that you would have come up with an idea like "flying" to the bed.........didja break anything?

FH, we're doing ok. I think the hardest part for both Al and I, is finally deciding what we have to do. My dad is a "planner" and I get it from him, and passed it on to Al. That was one of the hardest things for me to get used to about Dale........he just backs his ears and plows on through, hoping everything will come out ok. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It was hard, though. Thanks for the thoughts, I know everything is going to work out great in the end........if we can ever get to the end.

Goodpasture, yep, they sure do. They sit there and look perdy, or if ya want em to look really perdy, ya put some colored water in them!

Shortgrass, it will be our home, not mine. Even if Al had decided not to move with me, it would still be his home. No matter how old he gets, my home will be his home; one of those things that his dad and I just don't agree on at all. The sketch is just something I was doing to pass the time, while hauling water to the cows in the summer one year. I copied it from a magazine, might have been a Texas Highways one. It served the purpose, and Auntie liked it so well, I just gave it to her. She's got a lot of my "artwork" in her house...........

Ranchy---prayers that you and Al are settling in and that all is going well for you two!! the holidays can be a danged tough time and now is a time when you and al will need each other!! Soon as I get my "other" computer up and running here in my "new" apartment, I will also post pictures!! thanks for the gentle reminder that "life goes on"!! You are truly an angel!! God bless you and Al!!! May you have a superb Thanksgiving and a wonderful, love-filled Christmas!!

LOL a change in weather???? never heard that....prolly means it's gonna get warmer. It is Texas ya know LOL

Ranchy, the pictures sure look homey. I love all the old furniture and pictures. I"m so glad you have a place that you and Al can make into a home. Even tho it already looks that way, I"m sure you'll put yer own touches on it here and there. Will keep ya'll in my thoughts and prayers.

And you as well Kris. I can't imagine goin thru what you all are goin thru, the only thing I"d know to do is to put everything in the Good Lord's hands.

Ranchy, I love the house! I must've missed out, is it your aunt's house? Neat to have all that history. The kitchen cupboards look like the ones we had when I was growing up. Good luck to you and Al in the 'new' house :)

FH - you're in Texas??

Well she was right, the weather has changed. Got a cool front blowin in right now. Started in about 5pm, wind whippin up, and now it's cooled off a whole bunch. 10:00 am this mornin it was 75 degrees when I got to the pasture and into the tractor.

So.....maybe I should start listenin to crickets singin. But they do that ALL the time here. LOL

Oh....and it looks like rain...has already sprinkled a time or two and is lightenin out now.
