We have had kind of a busy week. Went to 3 branding, and all 3 were totally different. The first one was on Tuesday morning, and we used Nordforks to brand about 450 head. I think there were 14 people, 2 bunches of cattle and we were done in about 4 hours.

A bit closer look at how it works.
We hurried through dinner, and headed to our next branding, about 5 miles away, as the crow flies, but nearly 40 miles as the road goes. We pulled up just as the cattle took the branding pen down, and left the country. After rounding critters up for the 3rd time, we were able to go to work.

A little Flyin S. This little gal is a HAND!
Wednesday, we headed west, about 140 miles, to go play out at Fort Robinson. We did 120 calves in 4 hours. Since the Fort is a state owned deal, they brand "serial" numbers on any calf they plan on keeping around, after weaning.

The US forest service has been packing fence posts into some remote areas, and had the Region 2 US packstring doing it. If I understood correctly, they were using 8 big mules, and 3 horses, plus the one horse the guy rode.

All in all, it was a fun week.
Sorry for the over sized pictures.
