Our 2005 JD FWA tractor rear tire had a slow leak so Mr. FH ran it into town to have it repaired (no one in town has field truck any longer). They just called and said the tire was ruined. :( Mr. FH doesn't want to put a new one on with an old one, so we need to buy two. 12 ply 480-80-42, $1450 each. Good thing I was sitting down.

The one good thing is this is the first time we have had tire problems with that tractor. So I'm trying to be thankful. :D

That's not to bad. About 8-10 years ago there was some sort of tractor tire "shortage". New tractors were being sent to dealers from factory with old tires on them. I messed up a tire around that time was at least 50% more than they are now. All tires are expensive but nothing worse than always jacking around airing one up all the time. Sounds like at least they can get you going,

Wow. New tractors with old tires. I heard a similar story about someone buying tractor tires after 9-11. They had them at the store but couldn't let them go out til someone from the government came and took a look to make sure there weren't any illegals in them. :???: The guy needing them just had to wait.

You made me feel a little better about the price. They did discount them about 10% which helped.

If it makes you feel any better I just had to order a new tire for my JD, a 520/85 R38 for the princely sum of $1690. With a tube and wet change it will be over $2000. Oh well, now the rear tires will match lol
