Problem with a web-page

I tried to pull up the web-page for Valentine Livestock. It has long been on my "favorites" and has always come right up. Today there is a rather bland advertising page that comes up instead. This notation is also announced:

valentine-livestock.com expired on 01/12/2009 and is pending renewal or deletion.

This concerned me so I called the manager of the sale barn at his home on Sunday, which I normally try not to do. Anyway, the web-page seems to work in Valentine but not out here in the boonies where we are on a different server. I am wondering if any of you out in cyber-land can get the web-page, or if it is more of a local problem. For anyone who wants to try, it is normally found at www.valentine-livestock.com.

Thanks,

Soapweed

The domain name has expired and that is why you can't view it anymore. They can still view it at the sales barn because that is where the original web files are. The sales barn has to contact their server administrator and renew the domain name.

Hey Soapweed, I'm on Wild Blue satellite internet, and I got the same thing you did. The couple in the picture sure don't look like they'd have any interest in any of the livestock categories offered on the page :???:
I should take this opportunity to introduce myself to you and everyone on here. I guess I'm not a true rancher/farmer anymore....found it impossible to compete with the outrageous land costs around here, and have since expanded what was always a sideline of custom fence building into my main income source. I also do some windmill work, so I still manage to stay pretty connected to the cattle industry and really enjoy visiting this site--especially your windmill pics....keep 'em coming! :D

Thanks for the replies. I have reported the problem.

Welcome, redbrand. After the wind we are having today, there should be more windmill work available somewhere across the Sandhills. :-)

The ol' winter winds can sure take their toll on the windmills. Especially for the guys that think they're doing themselves a favor by chaining the wheel on the shut down ones......automatic death sentence :(

Usually when one says it's "expired" it means someone didn't pay the bill. I think most websites are paid for yearly. Most of the time it's because they just forgot. It's happened to a couple of my favorite websites too, and knowing the owners...I've called and that was the case..forgot to pay the bill.

There are companies that you pay to maintain your website. Or that set it up, and you maintain it yourself. It costs so much a month, but usually is charged by the year. The one's I've looked into run $200 to $300 a year.

There are free websites you can do yourself, but those don't show up on Google or other search engines.
