Question for Mike, Jiggsy, or anyone else....

How many coaches in FBS have had 9 or more wins in their first 6 seasons as a starting Head Coach, and name them.

I don't keep up with statistics as old as 6 years. That's ancient history to me and doesn't make a hill of beans. Can Huskers talk about the present?

I didn't think you'd want to answer the question, because no SEC coach has done it.

How many records did Nebraska set in the Gator Bowl the other day? That one current enough?

That is truly a magnificent accomplishment. And if the fans, donors, and boosters are satisfied with that, that's all that matters. Kudos.............

My guess is Bozo has to be one of them, cause no other reason for you to bring it up.

Bo Pelini is one of the three. He's in some mighty fine company, too.

Jiggsy ought to know the other two. They spent enough time tuning up the Mildcats.

If you think about it. It's not all that impressive. The first two years of any coaches tenure is using mostly kids the coach before him put in place. Just because the coach before you couldn't get out of his own way dosnt mean your awesome trotting his kids out there and winning. The coaches I really respect are the ones that take a dumpster fire and after a couple years struggling and getting kids that want to play for them have success at a place nobody else has. Ex Duke!!!!!

Pelini didn't have a whole lot to work with by the time Callahan got done looting and pillaging the program in Lincoln. He did a fine job of making lemonade with the lemons that were left.

One right school, but the wrong coach.

2 of the 3 FBS head coaches that won 9 games every year for their first 6 years as head coach are Bo Pelini and Barry Switzer. Can you name the third?

Winner winner chicken dinner!

Bo Pelini, Barry Switzer, and Tom Osborne are the ONLY three to have won 9 games every year their first six years as Head Coaches in the FBS. Bo is in some good company there.

switzer and Osborne did it in a Big 8 conference where each other were the only tough game of the year..... so brag all you want, those are jaded results.

I miss the Big 8 conference! :(
We played some quality football back then and there was that Big Game on Thanksgiving! Win or lose it was something to look forward to every year! As fans we didn't know how good we had it back then compared to these expanded or super conferences now.
