I have been told I need a hip replacement and am concerned about life after. Would appreciate any feed back as to any of you having one and how was the outcome. Are you able to carry on daily activities after. Concerned about being able to ride and still ranch. Was told I will need to make some major adjustments to my lifestyle. Thoughts?

We had an elderly neighbor who had a hip replacement. Afterwards he could get on his horse and ride again. I know of several
who have had hip replacements and got along great. In fact, they wonder why they waited so long. Hip replacement is not as
invasive as knee replacement and doesn't take as long to recover from. A younger different neighbor also had his done. He was pretty lame before hand and it was interfering with his livelihood. It made his life totally better and he walks with no problem, no limp. I think you will be just fine and will be one that wondered why he waited so long.

I have had both knees replaced and while they aren't perfect, I would do it again. I was in a lot of pain and I'm pain free.

Best of luck to you! Let us know how it goes.

Like, FH, I've had both knees replaced and have no complaints with them. Dr. Duchene in Rapid City did mine. He also does hip replacements. I know a few people who have good results with hip replacement, and it has improved in just the past few years, as some who had both hips replaced noticed a faster recovery with the second one.

Thanks for the replies. A big help. Feeling better about having it done. Will proceed as follows. You guys have an excellent week. Dry enough to get hay up. We have had some major moisture this year for sure.
