So far we have got right close to 2 inches of rain this afternoon/evening. And it looks like it will be doing it tonight and tomarrow as well. :D Bring on the grass!!! :D :D

It looks like the majority of western SD and Eastern MT are getting some as well. I heard around 15 inches of snow near Rapid City. What has everyone else gotten?

1.8 inchs of rain- an inch of wet snow (and its still snowing/raining/snaining lightly) down here on the Milk River-- 1.35 inchs up north on the pasture.... :D :D :D :D :D :D

You lucky old buzzard. :-) We only got 20/100 and i was talking to folks over by pontes north of you and that's all they got.

We had quite a thunderstorm go through this morning, with lots of real sharp lighning. The rain guage registered four tenths of an inch after it had passed. There was some drizzle the rest of the day, and it is snowing like a big dog out right now. It is hard to get cattle situated in suitable shelter to withstand a blizzard when lightning is popping. You really hate to get too many cattle all bunched together, because one bad strike could wipe out a whole herd. The moisture is welcome but the wind is a complete nuisance. :?

We had 16" of snow last saturday, the day of our 1st bull sale it did'nt go so well so we've got alot of bull power around here right now.I did'nt know if I should cry or laugh so I decide to drink some beer.Anyone need a bull or 5 or 10.

Sorry the bull sale didn't go so good, Denny. Weather can sure make or break about any kind of a deal. Wish I lived a bit closer; I'd like to see your selection. Guess I'm about bull poor at the moment. Now just really need some grass. Our remaining hay pile is getting pretty meager.

BMR, we ended up with about 8/10. Could sure have used more, but at least the grass will start now. That is the first real amount we have had since last July.....

Exactly the same here, but maybe last June. Can't remember. Hopefully it will hold us over to the next rain.

Yep- as folks were talking yesterday- this is the first real rain since June 16th last year--the day we got the unheard of before, June hailstorm (and 3-4 inchs of rain) that wiped out all our hay fields and slicked the praries clean of grass--which is still a lingering problem because of the now lack of no old grass in some areas....

This old semi-desert country needs to just be happy whenever it comes- as they are often few and far between.....

1.5" of rain here this morning and now about 4" of snow accumulation on top of that.

I went out and fed the cows some hay about 8:30 this morning. By the time I got done the wind and snow really picked up. Couldn't see the muffler on the tractor at times. Gonna stay put now until the weather settles down.

1.80 of rain here before it turned to snow. Couple inches of that so far and still coming good. My bull sale is Tuesday and this will do more good for it than any amount of advertising could.

Are any of you in the areas where they are getting the big snow? I've heard of reports of 3-4 feet in some places in the Black Hills. Welcome moisture but can you imagine calving or lambing in that? Good luck to you all.

It is now done for us and the rain gauge says we got right near 3 inches of moisture. :D  :D In that was about an inch of snow. We will take it however we can get it!

Well the moisture is a Godsend for a large area, but I'm glad the snow is over. The blizzard conditions were hard on things and we're lucky it didn't last longer. The clouds broke this afternoon, but the wind is having a hard time giving up. It is supposed to subside tonight. I'm sure we're well over 3" of moisture out of the deal since there was nearly 2" of rain before the snow started.

I'm wondering how Tap and others faired up North and West. By the weather reports, it sounds like the far northwestern part of SD really got dumped on with 3-4 feet of snow. It should grow some grass and fill some dams that haven't had much water for a few years, but things have to be plum miserable for some of those folks.

2.25" of much appreciated moisture here. South of the Yellowstone some had 2.7" to 3". Now the grass has something to start on, not much sub moisture, post hole digging has been a little tough this spring.

Talked to a bull customer at Camp Crook, SD and he said he had snow just up to his pants pocket deep. And in the higher hills was alot more.

Those guys will finally get some run off to help fill some water holes. :D

There was from 1.5" here to 2" east of us a ways, but hear there is more to the north, and DT confirms that. Over 65% and sunny now.

My sympathy to those who have to balance the good of the moisture with the damage from that heavy snow, though. There surely will be heavy calf losses along with fences and power lines to rebuild.

Even if he is only 4 feet tall that's a lot of snow. We drove throught that are last weekend and they needed the moisture, the ponds were pretty low. Hopefully not to many lambs and calves died.
