Supposed to be pic of heifers not a red gate. Oh well! :)

It's great that you posted these pictures...they showed up pretty darn small, from what I can see...the critters look content and fat...thanks

Camofloged heifers! Some are looking east, some are looking west, but all look ready for spring. I still have a couple of 2yr old bulls that would fit your program. :-) One I was going to keep, but found an outcross that I am going to buy.

Hi Shortgrass, I'm pretty well set for bulls this year. I bought two yearlings to go on my heifers this spring and my herd bulls are still in good shape. Although I need to get them tested for trichomoniasis since I share some summer range with a neighbor.

My understanding of Trich is that you don't need to test virgin bulls. It is a venereal disease. You would want to test right after they come out this fall. That was what I got from State Vets office in Pueblo.

Shortgrass your right about not having to test virgin bulls. I am concerned with my older bulls. My neighbor doesn't have the best of bulls and mine usually breed a good number of his cows. I haven't had any cows aborting calves but my cows are usually settled by the time I turn out, except for a few, but the bulls could have been exposed. If that was the case I might not see a problem until after this coming breeding season.

Do you know how they test, blood or skin cells from the sheath?

We test for trich when we semen test in the spring, they test the cells from a swab up in the sheath.
