I agree Ben--long before you showed up on here, I told the Canadian producers that their Canadian plants were just a bunch of wish in one hand - sh*t in the other...That without a major producer backing- like BIG C was promoting- and major change in the politics/government rules/laws -- that these multinationals were just going to swallow them up....

And I was chastised royally then for being a "Canuck hater"-- but my feeling is that most of them keep looking thru rose colored glasses-wishing for pre 2003 BSE days, (which will never exist again) and won't listen to the Randy Kaisers and Cams of the world-- since thats NOT what they what they want to hear....Instead they continually buy the same ol B.S that the Packer/AMI/Multinationalists story the NCBA's ABP's, CCA's, SSGA's etal put out about the US, US cattlemen, R-CALF, USCA being the "infidels" that must be defeated....

Personally- I think its going to take a major reformation in both government and producers before we can beat the power these multinationals have obtained-- and as long as Canadians figure their product can't stand on its own-and that they are owed a free ride on the US producers reputation- that will be hard to obtain--as the multinationals will continue to use it back and forth against us......

Ben

Simple Ben-- Not slamming-- just not looking thru rose colored PC glasses... Canadians are all scared sh*tless  to sell Canadian Beef- marked Product of Canada-- or the CCA and boys wouldn't be buying on to the AMI's idea to fight M-COOL (which keeps them in the generic meat business)- and the labeling of meat/beef of the country/countries the product was in to the US consumer- that 90+% are asking for...They prefer/believe they have to use FRAUD and DECEPTION in order to sell their cattle/beef...That right there tells me something about what they think the reputation of their beef must be now.... And Ben I know the old reputation of Canadian beef-- but that all changed when the Canucks  decided that there were two seperate herds-- US and Canadian on the road north-- but that it should all be one (US)  on the road south....

Now that they peed in their pot-- they need to find the window to throw it out of-- because folks no longer buy the North American herd/cattle BS......

Like I told MRJ-- few city folk want to know the ranch of origin- few even know any ranch's that exist (They'd probably only be able to name you King Ranch and the Ponderosa  )-- but they do know the difference in the countries- USA, Canada, China, Brazil, Mexico-- and thats what they want-- so thats what we should be giving them....

Unless you're taking the arrogant elitist stand of the NCBA-- "them thar dum fok can eat what we put in front of them- and like it too"--Eh Ben

Ben

Should we give Mexico a free ride too?-as a part of NAFTA they would qualify    :(  - this is one of the nations that US consumers trust way less than Canada ( which some distrust because of the Mad Cow of the month announcement)-- and if we do that- and do nothing about correct labeling of our meat/beef you've just opened the door to Brazil/Argentina/China/Timbuktu to pass off anything they want as US product too-- all at the increased profit of the multinationals ....  :(  :(  :(

Nope-- nows the time...Get some true labeling laws... Let each product stand on its own-- labeled with Country of Origin .....

Best Regards

Ben Roberts
