The bad feet were on a bull that was on test at Midland this past year. It apparently turned in to quite a fiasco as he was a very high $B bull and the breeder wanted them to trim his feet and sell him. The folks at Midland told him when they trimmed feet it was terminal!

Good for the folks at Midland. Black Angus breeders would do well to pay A LOT of attention to feet. After all, that is the foundation for all cattle.

We ran into feet problems years ago using Mr. Angus. :?

With our mineral business we have found producers who think they have hoof rot going on in their cattle; when we go and look, it is invariably POOR FEET, weak pasterns, etc. not hoof rot that is causing their problem.

While we are on this subject, what do you (or anyone reading this) think is the cause of sand cracks?

I always understood it was older cows in the right environment. We are fortunate for it to be a non issue up here.
