While I too, figure he's tangled up with a crazed barrel chaser, we gotta remember the spil was right down that way. I hope he hasnt had difficulties earning a livin' or has been effected in a bad way. Hope to hear from ya too, Robin. :???:

Sorry ya'll i know its been a while. It aint the barrel racer thats had me gone. My computer caught a cold :oops: . I switched the insurance companies i was working for so ive been having to learn the new company's ways of doing business. Its also gator and teal season down here, so ive been in the water alot lately. Sorry for the long time i havent been around, finally got my computer fixed and i plan on being back alot more. Thanks for the concerns though. :D

What is the value in the gator? Leather? What are they worth? Is there a bounty on them? Not too many Gator's here other than the John Deer kind. :wink:

Are you one of them fellas on the "Swamp People" show :???: Thats what the last several shows have been about is "gator hunting"....
I like watching the action- and get a kick out of some of the things they say (when I can understand them)... :wink: :P :lol:

per ---

Here are da prices most tanneries are payin.
4'=$2 per ft
5'=$4 per ft
6'=$6 per ft
7'=$8 per ft
8'=$12 per ft
10'and bigger =$16 per ft

Theres no bounty on them. You have to put in for tags, pay for a lease to hunt. Prices have been bad the last few years due to alligator farms down here flooding the market with hide.

Oldtimer- im not on the show, but i do know Troy very well. His lease borders my friends that i help during the season.

Justin--I just pray that ya'll like the feel of gator boots and keep buying them. I wont wear anything else, gotta try to keep the price up for them some kind of way. that 12 footer will prolly only make about 20 belts and 10 pairs of boots. The rest of the hide is used for many other things, like vests and things like that.

Jersey- I only clean one gator per year, the first one(as long as its about 7 foot). it takes us about 3 hours to clean one from start to finish. The rest of the gators go to the buyers and once we collect, we never see them again.

LOL Kinda like when we sell calves down here....

Ok another question. I know the tail is really good meat. Is there any other meat on one that's worth eatin?

The jaws actually have the best meat. The tail just has alot more of it. You just have to make sure that all the fat is off the meat or you will never want gator meat again.
