I guess I'm not much of a cowboy cuz the first thing I have to do to a new rope so I can get along with it is leave it out in the weather for a while, and drag something heavy through the uncleaned corrals. I've also found it doesn't hurt to tie it between two trees with something heavy hanging from it for a week or two as well. Eventually they either come around or take on a new life holding gates shut.  :shock:
