The Sask. High School Rodeo Association needs nine more saddle sponsors by May 3. A company or individual can sponsor all or part of a saddle. If anybody is interested in helping out just PM me and I can get the wheels in motion. The kids are given a certificate and then they use it to order the exact saddle they want which is a good idea in my mind.

You have a great program I hope you get all the sponsors that you need for your program.
Working with high school award programs for 25 years one needs to listen for the times of the kids. One of my rodeo students got pretty tired of belt buckles he had won several and claimed he had a dresser drawer full of them and could never wear them. You saddle idea I think is a step forward but sometimes we need to look ahead. What are these kids going to do with that saddle in the next five years..Some will get married move sell it keep it trade it off as where I live once those kids graduate they want to be adults and kinda get rid of their high school awards. This past year I have had kids leave their awards at school or I have to run them down to give it to them or send them home with someone. Of course mom and dad are more proud of what their son or daughter did then kids themselves.

Again your saddle idea is great. Here are some different ideas that you may consider. The use of a trailer for a year then returning it tho the dealership. Stud service on a horse?
If you have several trailer dealerships each one may donate one for each event. Very nice large plaques with their name on it and the year. That works at school for me if your rodeo was at the same place every year maybe a very large wall side board would work also year and date of the winner. I have parents, grandparents and students like to come to school to still see their name on that..We have used chairs handbags etc also

Many years ago I had twin 10th grade boys in class that won the use of a pickup for a year at a team roping. They never could drive the pickup but there dad sure had fun. Kinda bad when your 15 one can not drive the pickup you won.

Our NBHA district awards a two horse trailer for use 1 year. The top five in each division are put in a pot and a name is drawn out for the trailer. This year it just so happened that the winner of the trailer was the reserve champion in the 1D. They put decals all over the trailer, with the person's name....etc. It's kinda cool. But at the end of that year, you have an option to buy that trailer at a greatly reduced price if you want it. If not, it just goes back to the trailer company and they clean it up, and put it on their used lot.

First place winners in all divisions got a certificate/check. they could go buy a saddle, or cash that check and use it any way they wanted to.

It's hard to get saddle sponsors that will donate the whole amount. That's why we have fund raisers at each show that the money goes towards the awards. Feb 7 we had a "sweet shop" fundraiser, folks brought cookies, candies, whatever that were homemade. And we raised $550 at that one show. I made fudge and divinity. Sold like hotcakes.
