Any of you Saler folks know who this bull is ?

I was going thru some stuff in the old house today- and we found this picture...It must have been late 60's- maybe early 70's- right during the continental kick-- when some folks (Canadians if I remember right) came around trying to convince folks to use this Saler bull....They left off this picture...
NR or Dylan or one of the Canucks- the only thing on the picture is on the back says Bob Bellis Photographer Box 1085 Hanna Alta....

I think that is the first bull imported Imperial. He was a good bull and like Dylan said should have stuck with his type instead of going to pencil gutted cattle. Their mistake wiped out their bull market in my area. They are now getting back to this type of and strangely their bull market is coming back...

The ones Leachmans brought in here and were promoting never slowed down enough- or let you close enough to them to see what their phenotype was  Usually saw them at a dead run leaping the fence...

I always thought Vailliant wass the first import-not sure who that would be in the pic. The Salers cattle left are pretty good-unpopulatrity tends to rid a breed of mediocrity.

Valliant was imported by Phil Tetrault in 1972 at E&P. That photo looks somewhat like those I've seen of Phil but I don't know for sure. I never saw Valliant or pictures of him. The bull looks like Prince breeding.

Here's a calf I raised 10 years ago that had some prince in his background.

Bill Hart did have a few Salers buls at Prairie Breeders in addition to his Maines. They were bred by Phil Tetrault I believe. Phil was the biggest booster of Salers period. He also was involved with a meat processing plant and a restaurant chain. I think Bill and Phil were in the meat business together and having Prairie Breeders collect his bulls was natural extension of this.
I also remember Bill Hart's company was selling beef door to door for a while.
