Got a "few" photos of shipping the cattle today, the ones from the family ranches, not the ones that are going back over the mountain on the 24th.......Thought I'd share with you guys.

Started out early this morning, to get the two steers we were going to send to town......

Sun coming up over mountain and two cowboys:

A little better pic of them, photographer moved around where she wasn't facing the upcoming sun:

And here comes the herd, they always come a-runnin' when they hear the pickup......

Trying to entice them to the trailer with some feed, they were a tad-bit suspecious:

However, hunger seemed to over-ride their better sense:

Dale slipped a halter on Sweet Pea, the milk cow, and tied her to the side of the trailer:

And then caught Miss Tillerie, and did the same with her.......

We worked and worked, to get Lumpy in the trailer, I finally had to abandon the camera, and go help......then it took even longer to catch Junior, cause by then, he knew something was up......
Finally Al roped him, and we got him loaded.......

Getting the horses loaded up in the trailer, after that part of the morning's work was complete:

Then, after leaving Peach and Little Dan at the house, we hauled up to the shipping corrals, and helped Dale's brother with that bunch:

Got Lumpy and Junior unloaded after while, and put Lumpy in with the "grown" stuff they were sending to town......they didn't look quite so "grown" when he got in there with them.....lol:

We had just finished getting those two unloaded and penned, when Dale's younger brother got there with one load of the stuff from down at the folk's place.......Al's steer (Tillie's little brother) was with them (he is the lighter colored of them):

Moving the pen Al's steer was in, to the chute:

He led the way into the trailer:

A cute saying that was on the back of the trailer, by the gate:

Good-bye to Blondie's son and Tillie's brother:

Next stop: Deming Livestock Auction in Deming, NM. Hope last week's prices hold, after the stock market going thump over night.......

Ranchy...You'll soon be known as the "Buttwoman" LOl...

Great looking country, wish you the best at the market,

PPRM

Thanks for the pics Ranchy. It took me 25 minutes to get 'em but tenacity rewarded me. Good looking critturs, I'm sure you'll do fine with them.
Sure looks funny seeing that cattle liner missing an axle on the truck and another on the trailer. All in what youre used to I guess, cuz it really wasn't that long ago it was that way here.

Thanks, guys. I don't hold out a lot of hope that prices will be great at the sale today. Keith was saying that he heard oil went up to like $87 a barrel, and that effects everything. I don't think anyone is going to get rich off one load of cattle (and there were 6 of us shipping on that truck)......just needed to get rid of those 2 steers we had, and Al's, since he doesn't want to take him in 4-H this coming year. So, I won't get anything from the sale, the 2 steers are branded with Dale's brand, and Al will get whatever his brings.

Soapweed, if we had the secret formula all figgered out, I would have gotten pics of the whole process, instead of just a few before, and after..... It helps to have them a tad-bit spoiled, though......... Rattle a bucket and here they come!!!!!!!

PPRM, I guess "buttwoman" would be preferable to some of the things I've been called...........

Sorry it took so long to get the pics loaded, Silver. It seemed to take forever to get them in the bucket, too.......had to give it 3 tries before it would take them all without just freezing up. And it wasn't even that cold here yesterday!

Ya know, there have been several times when I'm sure the guys wished our cows or calves were halter broke...that looked so easy to get em loaded. Although I'm one of those that if we get a calf that is friendly cause of being bottle fed or something...I'm the one bawling as they are loaded on the truck...I hate that part of it...At least you had a sunshiny day...Thanks
