JBS Agrees to Acquire Smithfield Beef Unit, Australia's Tasman

March 4 (Bloomberg) -- JBS SA, the world's biggest beef
producer, said it agreed to buy the beef unit of Smithfield
Foods Inc. and the Tasman Group. of Australia.
JBS agreed to pay for $565 million for Smithfield Beef
Group Inc. and A$160 million ($148 million) for Tasman,
according to a filing posted on the Brazilian stock regulator's
Web site.
