We were quite taken with the sod houses on the trip west last yr. Mr. nr's great-grandfather lived in one in Dover, Minnesota when he broke land there. Wish we had a picture of That one! Well, looks like doing the pictures in a film strip doesn't give the captions. I threw in the last pix of Mr. nr in his ol shorts so you all have something to crow at! :D

That biggest rake thing leanin up against the front of the house in that first picture is what we use to clean out our horse trailer with. Wonder if they use it to clean house LOL

  I've wondered about their floors- if you came in with even slightly wet boots you'd have instant mud. Hardly worth sweeping that.
And I've heard the snakes would fall through the "ceiling" onto the bed etc. Can't imagine how they raised young 'uns, God bless our ancestors and what they had to go through!

One of the cleanest Houses I've ever been in had dirt floors - (Hogan)

The mother had a coffee can with small holes in the bottom - she'd fill it with water and sprinkle it - when it was almost dry she'd sweep it - it was like cement.

I was 17 and took the idea to the Stables/Cattle Show Barns with me - - People were always impressed with my Shed Row

nr, at least Craigs legs aren't "Ranchers" Legs. They aren't white and pasty.
i wonder if the deer fly find them tasty. :cowboy:
Yes, you ranchers must look somewhat well, shocking when you go swimming- the top of you tanned dark and the bottom half stark white.
Quite a picture
Mr nr lets me get all the bug bites, never seem to bother him,
