Looking for some ideas on a current situation I am in. I have a summer allotment June to October, I lost my winter lease, current owners are subdividing want the cattle gone. I have limited winter country will not support the summer pasture, so cow/calf operation will be tough. I am looking at running yearlings, but buying in the spring and selling in the fall seems like I will be just trading dollars. I am thinking about buying calves, but good ones are high and the prices seem to dip in October. Not sure of my options just kinda thinking out loud.

Boots am I correct in thinking you are not supposed to ''sublease'' permits?

All I can think of is buying calves in the fall and finding somewhere or someone to winter them until you can use your permit. Yearlings haul a lot better then pairs come spring.
