Enjoyed all the pics this morning. Thought I'd post a few from North Texas and Southwest Oklahoma since we don't seem to have any other reps from this area. I am just a small, nothing Hereford breeder. We have been in a rough three year drought here.

Cattle on the Horizon (taken in Sept)

Some people call West Texas "Brush and Pear Country"

Water Tank on the South Side of this pasture dried up on me in Late August

Cows can still get water on the North side. Several paternal sisters to this cow sold for some serious jingle in a sale in Northwest Montana recently.

Same cow nursing her bull calf in September

Moving down to Texas here is the fall calving herd running out of the brush in hopes of a hand out

A few of the fall calvers this summer in Texas

Couple of the Texas spring calves back this spring when it didn't look so bad around here

Thanks a bunch for the pictures of your country. Cattle look great and hope the rains find you soon. Not sure how i'd do on the plains or down there where mountains like ours are scarce? :D

Great pictures of wonderful cattle, nortexsook. That bottom picture of the two baby calves should be enlarged, framed, and hung on a wall somewhere. It would also be a fine calendar picture. :-)

Those cows are staying thrifty despite your weather conditions. Cattle condition reflect the management of their grass better than any other description.

Good pictures, pretty neat country, i have been on a few ranches in texas around throckmorton and albany, i dont know what them cows eat but what they do must be mighty nutritious because i never seen a thin cow when i was there. I also get a kick out of how you boys in texas call your dugouts, tanks. :)
