The last few years I've been buying disadvantaged calves in the fall and then running them on grass the next summer and they generally look alot better  come sale time but they are always a little smaller than what people want for replacement heifers and definitely not top quality. Spaying would let me run them with steers and not worry about neighbors bulls.
