I pulled 3 mares out of a really bad situation this morning.

I will trim feet, worm and do shots before they go. All have fever rings but the feet are solid no absesses or cracks. I paid 150.00 each for them and will let them go for what I paid.

They are all easy to handle, sound and nicely bred. They are not papered but all have freeze brands so you can trace them if you had the time.

All are solid with good conformation. They are going to need groceries though.

I need STB like a hole in the head but I can't let an animal suffer. I have bathed them, untangled manes and they are already looking better. I can break em too if ya toss some coin in my direction. One of the fillies is very dominant in the pasture and might be a pain in the butt if you run all of your horses together. She tried to run my old grey mare through the fence and as a result she is now sporting some nasty bite marks. Never mess with momma! She taught the young thing a bit of manners.

All are bay, 2 are 3 years old and one is 6. The six year old won around 60,000 on the track and could have a bit of a sore back not sure yet.
If your interested PM. I'm going back outside to hop on one of them in a minute. Please send scathing PM's in my general direction to discourage me from bringing more mouths home to feed. Would have been just fine if they were TB.

Simply put "I blame my mom and dad for not allowing me to have pets) :) LOL!!!

Yesssssss.. Way to go girl...... You did good...... No amount of money can replace the pride and joy you are having now........ Actually standard breds are pretty cool horses... Have fun and you'll have absolutely no problem finding good homes for them..... Wish I was closer to give ya a hug....... :D

Well I was up on all three tonight. Not too bad, a bit of buck from Mz. Attitiude. They will be super easy to break, they already know the basic commands so they plow rein quite nicely. Brakes work as well. The 6 year old definately has a sore back so she will need some time off. They all let me trim feet so that has been done. I found out the jerk face is out of a stud that earned 3 million on the track! She sold for 14,500 at the yearling sale! Thank goodness for the internet!

You are going to get it Mr! Nope it's not a gold mine it's just not that big :) Silver mine maybe not gold :)

I forgot to say, Katrina. Without papers the fillies arent worth alot. But the freeze brands are great so you can track em. No Gold, Saddle horse price if your lucky and I 'm not asking for that even. Good homes would be great. There seems to be some myths surrounding the breed. Like they can't canter always pace yadda yadda. They will be awesome trail mounts though! Northern I got another TB mare out of Alberta yesterday. Turn your MSN so I can yap at ya!

One of my favorite horses is a Standardbred off the track, who then went to combined driving, and finally was a green broke (to ride) 13 year old when I got him. He has never given me a minutes trouble. I've dragged lots of calves to the fire, and when you're on the way home from delivering the cattle where they need to be, his very fast walk is lovely, while everyone else has to jig to keep up! He is a cowy old dude too, which is surprising, as he likely never got within smelling distance of a cow until he got here. If you're looking to cover long miles, a Standardbred is a good bet.

Millionaress eh, Smart Bum! Nope poor as they come, however. I can find a horse! My sleuthing skills are great! Found out one of the fillies is by "Presidential Ball"! Now that's a pedigree, too bad she is such a cow! I think she will make a great riding horse gritty! Found me a stead did ya! Yap at ya soon!

Well if you were a lot closer I would come take a look at the Judith... One of these days I am going to have to find a horse, all the ones I am finding are western pleasure, as in show horses, that don't move like I would like them too... I wish I could explain except to say their lope feels all wrong compared to the Quarter horses I rode years ago.. Maybe it is just me getting older...

IL Rancher, the Pleasure Horses are taught to lope very slow, with
their head very low. They are known as "Peanut Rollers" because their
nose is so close to the ground it is said they could 'roll peanuts.'
What you are feeling is their unnatural way of travelling, most likely.
But it can be smooth.

Pleasure horses actually break down alot faster than an actual working horse. I just havent figured out why yet.
If you are looking for some nice working horses go to dreamhorse.com There are zillions of them on there. Hope you find something really nice. I still say a good old fashioned Morgan is the best ranch horse you will ever own. I tried to like quarter horses to be trendy, even took some lessons, nope I'll take a Morgan any day.

I have thought about Morgans... Saw some earlier this summer but they were TINY little things... Thought it was a yearling colt but it was a 2 year old gelding.. Probably just the breeder.. Reminded me of the 2 year old Arabian I saw getting trained the other day.... Looked oukay with the 10 year old girl on it, I'm thining my feet would have beend raggin on the ground

I read the title..... and I thunk of a movie i saw... "My Dad says Dope is for Dopes...." "so are you a dope?" "He says so. Gimme a shot" Can't. Youre not dope 'nuff"

Pathetic movie but i thunk of it when I saw this thread. lol.

IL Rancher,

Most Morgans are between 14.2 and 15.2 so bout the same size as a quarter horse. They typically weight quite abit more though. I have seen some little dinky ones, stick to the old working lines if you get one. The new fandangled type are so hot they will kill ya! There heads are straight up in the air like a Saddlebred. Lippert or nothing!

I had always heard that the MOrgans were a nice horse and never had heard that they were small which was why this one guys where so darn tiny...

We shall see, probably have a hard time finding working ones around here just as you can't find working horses... oh well, can't hurt to consider that as an option.
