This morning a windmill was broken down. Thank goodness for a creek because the tank was about dry.

Nice pictures! Your heifers look great, and in ideal condition to breed. I wish mine were more shed off like yours, but they aren't yet :-) . I don't have a wall in the barn, but rather a tablet. It's great entertainment looking back over the past decade +, and really appreciating the cattle I have now  . Still have a ways to go with them though.

Was that heifer born with one white ear, or was it frost bitten? That's a neat marking.

It was born that way. Definatly unusual.

Thank you for the compliments! :D

Hint for the barn wall.

Go to the ' craft' section of a store and find that Blackboard Paint. Paint it on a nice flat surface...any surface ....and you will have a blackboard you can erase when needed.

We did that to the door @ the feed shed @ the barn. Handiest thing ever....you can write down last minute ' stuff'...leave notes for someone else....

It's neat fer sure.

Never heard of blackboard paint..but it sure would be handy I'm sure,,,only thing is that I don't know if it would break the guys habits of writing on any kind of paper they find..lol ya know feed sacks,,tags from feed sacks...snickersbar wrapper...(oh ya, I got cow tags from that once)...scraps of paper ripped out of the calving book..lol Great Pictures !

any idea of what the "writings" mean? Almost looks like medical records or tallies...........

Any store that has a ' crafty' section will have it. It comes in spray or a reg old can.

It's great and man does it ever save time. I have a section of the wall in my basement, right at the bottom of the stairlanding, painted with it.

Any last minute inspirations or ' remember to do's'...I jot it down. Then cause of the location...it's practically Idiot Proof as it's gonna be the first thing I see when I start to go down the stairs.

Gotta have all the short cuts and help ya can find some days!!!!

I think the blackboard paint is an excellent idea.

The writing is on the grainery room door of the horse barn and has been here longer then I have. I have a facination with old ranch buildings and carvings, drawings, or writing on the walls. The JHL ranch north of Ashby Nebraska was once filled with carvings on the walls of the men of the area dating back to the forties. Another barn on the place holds magnificent western artwork that someone at one time did. Men on bucking broncos bring the walls alive.

We have a bald eagle nesting here. My parents say it's the first that's been seen here. It's a magnificent creature to watch and very scheduled. He buzzes the building early in the morning and in the evenings very much on a schedule. I just hope to have my camera handy to catch it!

Our family move onto this ranch in 1959, the exiting family moved to Bozeman. About 4 years ago, we made a trip to Yellowstone, and came home via Bozeman. Before we left I packed up some boards from the big barn with initials and lots of writing on them. Also in the old sheep barn, under the siding was lots of initials made with nails pounded into the lap boards. All in all I packed up 4 boards. We never did connect in Bozeman, but I left the boards at his shop he used to own, and I'm pretty sure he got them.
This past winter we got paid back. A 16x20 copy of an aerial photo from 1956. Best payback I ever got.
