what i would like to do is pull it behind my H&S V rake. yesterday i was baling some rye and the windrows where almost to the point of hanging up under the tractor. i think one of these swath rollers would have compacted it enough that it wouldn't have been an issue. i don't know what the swath roller was designed for in the beginning, but thats how i would use it.

and i'm sure it would keep it from blowing aswell.

Ok wheww....had some glitch there for a bit..and it wouldn't pop up the reply box.

Anyway....ok if your windrows are huge and hang up under the tractor....I could see usin somethin like that in front of the tractor as your baling...but not immediatly following cuttin. Cuz then, to me...it would pack it down and it wouldn't dry like it should.

i would use one when it is being raked.

We use swath rollers to push down Canola into the tall stubble to keep it from blowing away. If you are not after more drying it would work well as the height should be adjustable. Get the widest one you can. The old one's are too narrow to sell back to a Canola farmer when you decide it doesn't work or haven't used it in 8 years. A neighbor used mine swathing and baling a ripe hailed out crop one year and it worked like a darn. It shouldn't cause any leaf loss as they are slow and gentle.

I don't need a swath roller I need a swath finder. Raking 2 15' swaths together and I can still hardly see them. I've noticed though that the biggest cloud of grasshoppers generally has the swath directly underneath :?
