TDN of loomix

loomix is some pretty good stuff, the rain don't bother it, very minimal waste, and I think it did a 180 degree turn around on my cows. I ran them on bt corn stalks a few years ago, once the ears were gone the cows went down hill fast, had a tough time getting them back up into condition...brought in the loomix, and they just "bloomed" I am sold on it. personally think there is nothing better.

plus, the ex-sherriff that delivers it here is a rather entertaining guy!

Have you ever had problems regulating consumption? That's the biggest concern I've heard with liquid feeds.

I have used loomixfor several years now.
Great product- consumption control is only as good as your distributer.

over consumption shouldn't be an issue if you dealer is doing his/her job. consumption control is one of the great advantages of using loomix. it will vary a bit, but very little.

What is the TDN of loomix

Cowman,
From what I have read about loomix, the product is not so much about containing a direct TDN value as much as it is really about producing a TDN value, depending on what you are feeding your cattle in addition to Loomix. In other words, Loomix with other feed offered, produces a higher TDN than if only feed were were offered.

This article on their website was very helpful on the subject.

Apparently, the product produces a bacterial environment in their rumen system which allows them to consume more forage (grass or hay or whatever) and convert it to a better TDN value. Do I have that right?

That is correct. The fiber digestion in Ore-Bac Loomix is PATENTED. We proved to the Feds that we increase fiber digestion more than ANY OTHER PRODUCT IN THE MARKET. CSU ran independent trials with Ore-Bac and other products, and we increased TDN by up to 34%, more than any other product in the trial (which included Mix 30).

Bottom line, you can feed poorer quality forages, and the cows will slick it right up, but you have to feed enough of it, as since they can digest more, they will eat more of the poor quality feed....and...if you are feeding high quality forages, you can feed less of it, as the cows are getting even more out of it.

Remember, nobody is feeding cows....you are feeding the bacteria in the rumen. 24 hour access to Ore-Bac is more beneficial than feeding other supplements once every day or two, cause within 20 minutes after they have been consumed, fewer rumen bacteria are being produced and the digestion process begins to slow up, plus, you don't have the 'boss cow syndrome" where the dominant ones get three times more than they need, while the timid cows get none.
