Teaty Twister

Not sure why picture is so small, but I guess you can double click on it to enlarge. I have another picture after hair removal, but maybe too graphic.
 
After some of the goat pics in the gallery, nothing is too graphic. When you click on the photo it takes us to the gallery and we can see the next photo anyway.
 
This happens by a calf sucking and twisting the hair around the teat. It forms a tourniquet cutting off the blood supply, and the teat will eventually fall off. We have noticed this a few times early enough to head and heel a cow and cut off the hair ring to save the teat.
 
Some cows tend to have more hair on their bags than others.

Soapweed's right. We've seen this as well. Not too often tho.

Sure too bad, but some cows can raise as good a calf with
three quarters than others do with four. I'd wait and see with
this one. She might still be a keeper.
