Air-Drop of Rabbies Vaccine expanded from the focus on Grey Fox has been expanded to include skunk.
Flights are projected to begin in late January 2014 in East-Central Texas. Flights will leave from Fayette Regional Air Center. LaGrange Texas. They will be flying a white and blue with red trim twin turban turboprop Beehcraft.
The project is expected to take one week.
Oral rabies vaccine manufactured by Merial Limited, Athens Georgia. Vaccine is enclosed in a small sachet (plastic bag like a catsup package). Bait is coated with fish-meal crumbles and contains 2 ml of oral rabies vaccine.
150 baits per square mile.
Counties in health service Region 7 include: Bastrop, Brazos, Burleson, Fayette, Grimes, Lee, Madison and Washington.
