Yesterday we were branding a package of short keep cows we picked up, we knew they had some age on them as the guys were honest about how old they were.
We decided to mouth them anyways just to see how bad they were, Well about half of them had full mouth of teeth and the rest just broken mouthed with no smooth mouthed cows in the bunch,
That made me feel better,
Mouthing a big cow can be dangerous and these were 15-1600 pound cows but thanks to Soapweed showing us the Hook Doctor he had picked up at the Black hills Stock show and me ordering my own it was quite a bit safer to stick it in the corner of a cows mouth and pull her head around. Reaching down to do it by hand puts your face in striking range if she throws her head up and believe me their heads are harder than yours.
