All in all it was a very fine Thanksgiving.

The oldest two are now in Kindergarten, and they seem to like school. The others keep Grandma busy. The Kosmo Kid and his beautiful bride are expecting Number Three in late April. We are all excited. :-)

Congratulations Soapweed family.

I was wondering what kind of beef would cook up well, deep fried in peanut oil? Maybe horn in on the fried turkey deal.

Love the photo's! And that you could share the day with your waaaayyy 'out of town' family members! One of the good things about technology that keeps some of us trying to keep up with it.

Looks like a pretty nice day there. We were just off Sheridan Lake Road on sw corner of Rapid City.......and it was 76% there! Can't get much better than that in western SD! I believe some of the group ate on the picnic table out doors.

Re. the 'fried' turkey.....our sil has done that, successfully. We heard all the warnings about it during our two hour drive to RC. Had not heard the one about it exploding if you put a frozen turkey in boiling oil! I can't imagine anyone doing that.......but, yes, I can!
And it sounded like it is a very big and dangerous explosion, at that. We have heard of some serious garage fires caused by simply not being careful enough, of having the turkey fall into the cooker, but hadn't even thought of an explosion!

Looks like the 'wind-break' and apron Peach used are great ideas. Think I will stick with the roaster and the roasting bag when I cook one in a couple of weeks to slice, package, and freeze for quick meals as needed this winter.

Isn't Kindergarten interesting! Our eldest great grand girl is in it this year. She loves it and surprised me with how much they are learning there these days. She can't wait to be able to read a book. Her grandma's on the ranch are readers and tell her how much fun it is, so she is eager! Having two of them in same grade has to be great fun for them....and you as the school programs and such come up!

Have fun with it all.
