Brought the last group home this morning. About -35C in the breeze, but not too bad. Glad I rode over to get them as the snowmobilers had left gates open all over.
Out the gate

Lining out...

The cows go marching 2 x 2

Over the hills

Across the creek

And eating the woods

To the bales at the top of the hill.

Just stumbled on this forum following a bunch of links. I'm not a rancher and know nothing about cattle - I love in the fifth photo how you can see how far the line has stretched out. That lead critter knows just where to go!

Beautiful photographs!

I live in Terrace. It's a little logging town on Highway 16 between Prince George and Prince Rupert. Although since you're from BC you might know where it is.

I'm originally from New York so I always feel the need to "explain" it. When I first heard the name of the place I had to drag out an atlas and look it up. :)

Nice pictures RSL,is it not cold on a horse at those temperatures?
Yes it is, but it is still a pretty good way to spend a day. :D

Shoot, a horse keeps ya warm! :D (Warmer than an atv) (Unless it has a cab and heater) I had to say that before Per or another mechanicalized cowboy did.
Ha H you are just phishing to see if I am still here. I love a strung out group of trailing cows RSL. Congrats on the Environmental award. :tiphat:

Busier than a cat on a hot tin roof H, chasing a possible political career. One of the young lads I have been mentoring in the cow business is covering my bases with the ranch but I haven't got him to post here for me yet. :!:

Thanks Per. I have been following your burgeoning political career via your photographer. Good luck in the upcoming process.

H, you need to get back on FB to keep tabs on Per's itinerary. :D

No facebook for me. I get enough civilization from ranchers.net.

Per, i hope all goes well for ya. When you become prime minister up there dont forget us little people. I would make a swell minister of hunting if ya need me. Or i could be incharge of the barrel racers at Calgarys rodeo. Just saying! :D
