Yesterday morning, my cousin and his wife called to see if we wanted to go to Chadron with them to see the Red Steagall show that evening. We had been considering going anyway, so Peach Blossom and I accepted their kind offer. We all had a fun evening and the weather cooperated beautifully. The grandstand was nearly full of people, and we were all inspired by Red's music, poetry, and great outlook on life. He is a cowboy through and through. He has a real mission to both preserve the cowboy/ranching way of life as it is now, and to interview the old-timers who have so much history to tell. Red is a shining example of patriotism and conservative core values. I was impressed.

Back in the mid-seventies, Red Steagall and his cowboy band performed in this area. Being young and single and able to survive on little sleep, I heard him at that time in Valentine one evening and Gordon the next. His music touched my heart then and it still does. Red Steagall is a proud American.

Again, thanks.

I agree with your comments about Red Steagall, now that you voiced them so handily. Seems to me. he is to appear somewhere close to us, but I have forgotten where. Jinglebob can you help me out...where would he be appearing in South Dakota?

Gosh, Soapweed, your hay meadows are green after you have cut the hay. How does that happen? :?

I have never seen Red in person only on TV and hear him on XM radio, now I'm jealous. He truly is the poet laureate of Texas.
I hope your hay is better than ours, ours is about half of last year and whats left is fading fast with the hoppers and this heat. Time to go fishing.

We love Red too. He did one of the greatest performances I've seen at the Ft. Worth Stock show 100th anniversery. He has a great radio show every week. Hope you'all can get it in your area. It comes on our station on Sunday evenings. He's always interviewing an old timer and the stories are great. Wish I could get tapes of them.
