Last year I spot sprayed and howed. I got a little gravley skidster bobcat that's got a 20 hp honda. Its set up for a while and I had to clean the gas tanks and I've had the carb off 5 times. It ran real sorry but today we clean the carb one more time. It still ran sorry but better. Its the ticket gettin u thistle. Faster than spot sprayin and hoein. It finly cleared up on its on and started runnin good. Did about 10 acres in 2 hours today. I got about 100 to go. Got a pic comin.

Careful cowhunter, there are folks on here that'll think your nuts for killing off perfectly good grazing AND using a machine to do it!

I'd like to see the pics when you get them up. Seems like the war is alwas on with thistle around these parts.

Well I hafta say I've never seen a machine like that before. It's like a skidsteer only smaller :D I bet that's a handy little devil.

I tend to clean alot of carbs myself on equipment that has sat awhile, last week it was a huge power washer I borrowed, , and this week a ford 2.8,

but I seldom have to do it more then once... I use "walmart carb cleaner" to get the gunk off, disassemble and soak in CRC-626 overnight, and clean off with bomb lube or deepcreep... and reassemble,
(don't use WD-40, as it will ruin the gaskets) and soaking in carb cleaner will as well)

I put a decent inline filter in, and run a tank of high test (sunaco ultra) or shell.. so far it has worked every time...

to prevent problems, run some hi-test and "fuel stable" through before laying it up and it should start right up when needed again..

the 2.8 ford had been sitting since 96... and with a little engine pre-treat before I fired it up, and a carb rebuild it now starts right up at first crank.. and runs smooth..

I hope this helps and if you ever want rid of that darn contraption, let me know...

Thanks big muddy. There she is in all her glory. The little peach. It's kind of like clearin land. I just ease along and drop the blade a little then go on to the next one. Some places are thick. I"ll take a few more tomory. But a cow won't eat it. Nor a goat. The only thing that will is a burro when the thistle is young. Cold won't kill it either. It just sits there. Waitin on warm weather then puts on a blue flower follered by a seed pod. I'm late but I'm goin to get it out of my high pastures come hell or high water. I could and have a spray rig but I'd have to spray the whole pasture. I don't like spray. Its kin to cancer.

Steve I had some crc and no air the first time and was scard to take it all the way down with my memory like it is. I took it to my airboat buildin buddy and he finly got it. I took a presure washer inside the gas tank and cleaned it up good then fill the tanks up with diesel and let them set for a week. Drained them and put gas with marvel mistery oil and stabil. It finely cleared up and runs like a champ. I got a bucket, forks and a ouger. It will flat dig a hole. It has 5 oxzilery hydroilic hose quick disconects. They made a frail mower, trencher, root rake with a clamp, and even a generator but they discontinued the little machine because they wonted 12000 dollars for it new I heard. I got it as a demo for 3000 dollars and 40 hrs. I'd love to have some more implments for it but can't find none. I'm goin to make a wood spliter one day.

What kind of thistle is that cowhunter? it looks like a tap-rooted kind that grows single rather than the "creeping" type Canada thistle? Where else do you get this type - is it only in the south?

they are pricey, but real handy.. we used one similar with a trencher mounted on it, and it worked great... but the owner wasn't willing to part with it. was almost as handy as our large ditchwitch, but it can get in tight spots.. and be used for alot more..

I remember its always bein around but not as thick as it is now. Its got a large white root that runs deep. Real sticky buger to. I did see a horse tryin to eat some the other day. It looked like a youngin tryin chewin tabaco for the first time.

This little machine will dig a hole as fast as a big machine. What's nice is u don't have to get out of it, u step off the back. I also got a old 3 point hitch post driver I might adoupt to fit it. With the old ford tractor weights under the seat, I can ease around with 800 lbs. Every gravley mower I ever saw has kohler motors. I don't know why this machine has a honda but there good motors. When they come on the market, they sure made brigs, kohler and wisconson step up to the plate.
