Took two bales up the road to our little bunch. It's been snowing most everyday and sure does look wonderful. I'll bring em' home after the 1st.
Got a cow with late fall calf i'll wean next week if it's not too cold, and one lost Holstien steer who will go in the fattnin' pen soon.
We lease a meadow with a bunch of willows that make nice wind break.
I bought this brockle cow this past spring. She was way late and the folks i got her from run a tight ship. 60 day calving window or on the truck. My ship is more like a leaky rowboat with a lazy guy rowing, so she fits right in!
Looking west along the jungle of willows. It was chilly and snowing, but all that white stuff turns to H2O come spring! Gotta love that!
Looking south at Marchant's Trees. Those are really old black willow trees planted over a hundred years ago. The pioneers planted lots of em' and there are still many little groves around.
We get lots of eagles every winter that migrate in. They love those old trees and sometimes you can see 40 or more sitting around resting. They slam the jackrabbits and even chow on ducks and pheasants. This is a bad shot of a young bald eagle just landing. I'll get better shots with better lighting of both bald and golden eagles another day.
The view east on a breezy and cool day.
The storm kinda broke a little and i got a shot of the Sheeprock mountains. We will drive my cousin's herd home after Christmas. It takes a day to gather and three long days to go the 50 plus miles across the desert to Delta. I'll take the camera along and have some pictures of the drive. If ya wanta help bring a saddle and be at the ranch 7:00 a.m. on the mornin' of the 26th of December. Ya may wanta dress warm and bring a thermos!
Merry Christmas from the Great Basin & West Desert of Utah!
