do you have a sawmill, or do you hafta take em somewhere to have them cut?

I have a sawmill but its not set up these I am hauling to have them sawed so I can get started on the corrals. All the post's were set last fall so as soon as I have planks I can get busy.I plan to set up the mill this spring once the ground thaws out.

Denny:
Tell us more about the Tamarack. Does that tree belong to the same family as the Cedar? Can you use them for posts? How long will they last etc? Tamarack is sometimes grown here as an ornamenal. Now there is some concern about the salt cedar. It seems to be an invasive tree along some of the rivers. That is no worry where I live, but I am curious.

Tamarisk (salt cedar) not to be confused with Tamarack.

Tamarisk is a major problem here in Texas along the Pecos and Rio Grande rivers. We've sprayed thousands of riparian acres over the last few years in an effort to not eradicate cause that is impossible, but to control the darn thing.

Never knew the Tamarisk term Tibbs, but I know what salt cedar is along the pecos river...that stuff is horrible.....more of a bush type than a tree.....thick thick thick

Here's a link with a couple pictures of the salt cedars along the pecos, and efforts to git rid of it.

Who did the $25.00 go to?

It went to the county anyone can get one to go in and clean up after the loggers get done.

Tamarack grows in wet swamps here they have a type of needle on them but they loose them in the fall same as leaves.we had a corral on our farm that was built in the mid 70s that has lasted 30 years post's and plank were all tamarack..
