shotgun season for Whitetail deer starts around here! There will be some big booms for the next week.

We now have three hunters in my family- 2 oldest sons (22 and 18 ) and I. Two years ago, a buddy of theirs from town got into the hunt with us. Sure nice to see a town boy take an interest in the hunt.

S'funny how something else has taken shape around here lately; these young lads seem to have a female following that has taken a liking to hunting as well. These lovely young does are out there with the young bucks before daylight!

Can't figure it out. Can you?

Thanks for reminding me MLA. Have to remember to paint the dog fluorescent orange tonight. (120lb hound/Saint Bernard cross)

Better go spray pain the cows to "NOt a Deer.. I am a cow".. Amazing the stories you hear when people get to banging the brush trying to deer drives and shooting everything that moves... We don't have the gunners going for another 2 weeks or so... Than it will be time for the dogs to tear down the door trying to get away from the fireworks.. Opening day.. Take cover.

So far it seems to have been relatively quiet around here. Not near the shooting that usually accompanies opening day.

The boys had two bucks down by 8 AM. One 11 point and one button buck. Got them gutted and hanging in the shed.

Pictures later.

Opening day here was last Wed.Because of family commitments gregs only got out twice. We've had LOTS of hunters stop and ask if they could hunt by our home, word travels fast about the huge moose on our place. These guys are not from our area, heard about the moose in the coffee shop.

My buddy got a nice whitetail Friday 173 -funny thing is him and his brother have a whole garage full of huge horns-they get poretty ticked if they shoot one and misjudge his horns. Not many guys kick their own butts over a 160 inch whitetail lol.

Lots of orange in the fields today. My wife got her buck last night about 10. Apparently minivan season is open all year. 160lb 8 point buck, van's a writeoff.

But did you get the rack?

Opening day here as well. Heard lots of shots but some could have been from south of the border. My daughter was out walking this morning and saw deer but nothing with big horns and my son and i rode this afternoon in an area that has been real good to us in the past and hardly saw a muley but saw about 20 white tail does . Maybe things will quiet down later in the week. We did see a big muley Sunday morning that could be around for us later as he was sort of in a out of the way place.
