Was browsing used tractors today and came upon this apparent bargain - a '99 Case MX135 with loader, grapple 4900 hrs - for $20,000 OBO   What's the catch is it stolen?

Grassfarmer check out this tractor.....compare the photos from your listing to this one. They look like the exact same photos, especially the one of the interior showing the tractor seat, notice the sign in the window, it says wanted. :???: Something smells fishy to me.

Ah the power of the internet, thanks Triangle Bar. Maybe the guys in Edmonton are running a scam using pictures of the one in Tennessee? It's the same tractor for sure. As always "if it sounds to good to be true it usually is" .... oh well I can always dream of getting a deal like that :(

Simple solution buy it an say cash on delivery and delivery of all paper work saying tractor is theirs to sell and free of liens.

Maybe they only owe $20,000 and it's going to be repossed so they figure someone else could use a deal. I know when our family went broke in the 80's my dad sold alot of stuff for what was owed. The neighbors got a deal and he did'nt file bankruptcy. That was land and machinery. One thing that sold for less than was owed was our John Deere Tractor my Dad bid it back and let them repo it.

Yup - call them and tell them just that - delivered in the yard - all papers included and your certified cheque will pay for it in full.

You could put a lot of repair into it for that price.

Back rims look to be wrong size - they have been changed - or the photo angle has me fooled - still a great price.

Be sure to let us know what they have to say.

an easy way to check to see if it is a scam or if they actually have the tractor is to request additional pictures... be specific.. ask for a picture from a certain angle or with a cover removed..

can't send additional pictures of a unit you don't have,,

Looking again - central Alberta to Edmonton?

Heck go to "The Mall" drop off the family and go find it - if it exists.

Easy drive. Make a day of it.

I have a tractor that is exactly the same, loader too except alot dirtier. It would be a really good deal at that price. the only thing I don't like about mine is I wish the hydraulic system was a little better.

This sounds like a scan that they do on Ebay. I stopped looking on ebay two years ago when this stuff kept popping up this this. I would find a very popular pickup , tractors and UTV posted buy the same person in the middle of the country. Come to find out the items wereinstorage at the west coast. Sellers could not be conacted only by email. Oddly enough I asked a co-worker and he just about caught in the scan also. He told me how it worked. They keep you bidding right p to the end and you are the only bidder the catch is they need a certified check or credit card (pay Pal) before they can release the items. Usually there never is an item they just take photos of some popular items and list them at a very low price. Sound like a scan for sure. Several catch on to it when it comes to pay time and delivery. If some idot goes that far in the deal they should catch on when they have to go to a fake stroage unit in La Cailf to pick it up by that time the theif is gone. For some reason these theifs pray on ag people guess they think they are dumb. These theifs are forginers usually.
You should figure that out when you email them.

I see this sort of ad on Craigslist all the time, usually a kawasaki mule for about half what its worth, or a harley, or a 4 wheeler. When I email for details, usually he says his unit is leaving for Afganistan in a month, and the machine is in Montana, (I live in north Texas), but he'll pay for shipping to my door, and he has an escrow service to protect the buyer. "If it seems too good....."
