Our Midget team is having quite a year-we went with alot of rookies this year and the wins are spaced a bit far apart. We had to release four veterans last week for breaking curfew. This weekend we played the top two teams in the league and lost both games but outshot both of them. Our dressing room is pretty hungry for a 'W' the boys sure deserve it. The funny thing is Ty is on an 8 game points streak which isn't like him at all lol. No fighting majors either though he handed a 17 year old an invitation today-the guy two handed Ty behind the knees as he was skating off on a change. We aren't scheduled against those guys again this year but I sure hope we meet up again in playoffs lol.

It would be Minor Hockey, not a school activity

Darn Corey, that must of been a tough one releasing those four vets.

Bantam and Midget hockey easily my favorite, even trumps the pro's

Yes there were a couple sleepless nights for both coaches-but the dressing room is a better place now. I don't value seasons as much on wins and losses but more as a progression-those rookies will be getting that much more icetime and will just get better. We've only got three p;layers with AA experience so there have been some bumps in the road lol. We might do an Alberta tournament so you'll have to come watch if it's close. Emily is playing Tier One Atom but I think the closest we get to you is Provost, LLoydminister and St. Paul.

I just can't believe it-we played Beardy's today a team way ahead of us in the standings-the boys played great outshot them 34-16-the only thing that kept it remotely close was our pathetic local refs but that's another story. We had a crossbar in the third but were up 3-2. they pulled their goalie and with 22 seconds left we hit the post on the empty net-they came up ice missed our net and it bounced right to one of their guys and they tied it. there's nothing I'd like more than a win for the boys they sure deserve it. Then to top it off I go out and somebody did a hit and run on my truck-the police figure a couple thousand bucks damage lol.

Today was a different story we dominated the leagues top team and beat them 7-2. I've never won against this city in six years of coaching so it was a sweet present for this coaches Christmas. the boys played pretty disciplined too we didn't get a penalty till two seconds left in the game.

NR,

I know Tim Hortons, but don't really know Hockey, LOL...

However, it has been fun to read these posts. The kids are coming along. I guarentee you every coach is looking at that squad and thinking, "Man, this is not going to be much fun playing them next year."

But I read more. The kids are growing and that comes from coaces able to keep the spirit and hope up. Kudo's to you for what you are doing, It is nice to see people such as yourself having an impact on these young lives,

Last year I invited one of the young teachers that moved to town to help coach with me. This year he is the head coach and I'm the assistant. He is a great hockey mind and motivator-during the dark times-team turmoil and a long losing streak we just tried to keep the boys believing in themselves-it's just great to be able to share a season with the team. some of the boys I've coached in over 200 games so we've seen alot of hockey over the years. the new head coach deserves alot of credit-he's got a new baby and no kids on the team so he's giving up alot for the kids. Myself I don't consider coaching a sacrifice I'm just happy to be there lol.

Another big game today-Prince Albert would of moved to first if they beat us-they shitpumped us 12-2 earliar in the season and got up on us 2-0 today. Tyler tied it up for us late in the second then we went up 3-2 in the third. They managed to tie it but were pretty happy with our effort-the rest of the schedule gets a bit easier so after Christmas were ready for our run to the playoffs. Definately one of the most coachable sets of kids I've ever had the privilege of coaching-everyone's a gamer too.
